18th Century Provincial Tokens, Munster

Clare, Cork, Kerry, Thomas Prattent; D&H 7b – variety overstrike; halfpenny mule struck in copper. 8.98g. This piece, the Baldwin Basement and ex-Dalton specimen. Overstruck on a Hampshire 16 host with planchet broadly expanded as a result of the forceful strike with resulting fracture. Otherwise, bold with even brown fields and parts of the host clearly visible throughout. Extremely rare variety, possibly unique. Good extremely fine.
