18th Century Provincial Tokens of England, Northumberland
Northumberland, Newcastle, Thomas Spence; DH 22, halfpenny struck in copper, 11.34g , 29.89mm. Our first example of the ever popular sailor in a boat on the Coaly Tyne. This image not only indicative of eighteenth century tokens, as we’ll see in later lots. This piece, typical die cud, otherwise reflective bronzed fields, better than extremely fine . Scarce.
