John Blackett
The Banns having been published on the 3rd, 10th and 17th March 1799, John Blackett(sic) married Sarah Harris(sic), on 4th July1799, in St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney, Tower Hamlets, they were both illiterate, signing the marriage certificate with their mark ‘X’. A John Blackett, son of John and Sarah Blackett, of High Street, Aldgate, was baptised in St Botolph, Aldgate on 3rd September 1777. A John Blackett, of Church Street, was buried aged 79 on 25th February 1855, in St. Mary, Haggerston, Hackney. The couple had children including Sarah Jane, who in 1829 married the wonderfully named, William Buggins Castle, John was one of the witnesses.
