Lot 66 – Cheshire Chester halfpenny D&H 6, double-strike
18th Century Provincial Tokens of England, Cheshire
Cheshire, Chester, Charles Roe & Co.; DH 6, Kempson’s halfpenny struck in copper, 9.3g , 29.22mm. A subtle double-struck example. The obverse has a notable doubling of the owl’s eyes above the head of the standard owl. The reverse legends are doubled and rotated – see the E duplicated just to the right of the usual E. Unusual, quirky, very fine .
