18^th Century Provincial Tokens, Somerset

Somerset, Bath, Mary Lamb & Son; D&H 50e, copper-gilt halfpenny, 11.03g, edge as YORK BUILT A.M. 1223 CATHEDRAL REBUILT A.D. 1075. The cover token of the Noonan’s Auction catalogue, 26 January 2023. Listed as a potentially unique gilt proof but later determined not to be a proof strike and as such, copper-gilt. Gilding is brilliant throughout, some rub on the edge and believed contemporary. Remains an exceedingly rare variety, good extremely fine.
