Lot 107 – Lutwyche’s Middlesex Masonic penny (D&H unlisted), Davisson 33bis III (plate)
18th Century Provincial Tokens of England, Middlesex
Middlesex, Masonic, James Sketchley; D&H 33bis III, penny sized. This piece, recorded and plated by Davisson in his 1990’s addenda having spent time in the Baldwin Basement recording new varieties. Page 13 of the front addenda shows this piece illustrated. The weight is that of a standard D&H 369a halfpenny and suggest this is a rolled or hammered to gain it’s oversized appearance. An interesting oddity nonetheless. Fine for issue. Unique
