Lot 186 – Middlesex Spence halfpenny D&H 803a (?)
Cobwright Collection of Thomas Spence, Part II, Middlesex
Middlesex, Little Turnstile, Thomas Spence; D&H 803a, halfpenny struck in copper. The edge on this from one perspective appears to have upward milling, but the inconsistency and roughness may also place it as a plain edge (D&H 803c). With edge a little uncertain, this is otherwise a pleasant example, struck from late die states. Good very fine. Rare.
