Lot 208 – Middlesex Miscellaneous halfpenny D&H 925, clear Wexford undertype
18th Century Provincial Tokens of England, Middlesex
Middlesex, Miscellaneous, Issuer Uncertain; D&H 925, halfpenny struck in copper. London, Essex, and Norfolk variety. This, a very strong example of the overstrike, clearly showing in the fields, more so in the obverse since it has greater surface area. ENNISCORTHY can be clearly seen underneath LEEDS & BIRM. See last two photos for best zoom ability. Evenly patinated, very little handling and the best example we’ve handled. Good very fine for issue. Scarce.
