Northumberland, Newcastle, Thomas Spence; D&H 23a, halfpenny mule struck in copper. A rarer die marriage, struck on a rougher planchet with plain edge. Planchet flaw to obverse, flowing vertically to the right of the sail. Otherwise, highly attractive, reverse with much redness. About as made (Gem). Very rare.
