Lot 252 – Prattent’s Surrey Lambeth Mule Halfpenny D&H 13, Rare, Double-struck
18th Century Provincial Tokens of England, Surrey
Surrey, Lambeth, Thomas Prattent; D&H 13 – Var, halfpenny mule struck in copper. The final of our special collection of French Liberty variants, saving something rather special until last. At first glace, what might appear as a soft strike is actually double-struck, rotated 180 degrees. Most notably the word FRENCH, firstly in the correct position and appearing again at the opposite side. Fascinating variety, bronzed and essentially as made. Very rare.
