Anglesey, Amlwch, William Williams; D&H 252c, Williams’ 1790 Pattern penny. Dies as previous, struck on a fairly broader planchet with rough plain edge. As an aside, this variety is found on larger planchets as well as smaller and also known with plain rounded edge. Much sharper strike with even and glossy brown surfaces. Some subdued red in the devices. Very attractive pattern, good extremely fine, mostly as made (nr Gem). Very rare.
