18th Century Provincial Tokens of Wales, Glamorganshire
Glamorganshire, Glamorgan, William Taitt, Richard Crawshay and Samuel Homfray; D&H 1, Jorden’s specimen halfpenny struck in copper. A pattern issue, very rare and seldom offered. Sharp and beautifully struck on a thick planchet with plain edge, in collar. Typical obverse die break to the front of the crown. High rims with reverse cud at almost 5 o’clock. Very choice brown and faded red surfaces with exceptional eye appeal. Good extremely fine, mostly as made (Gem). Very rare.
