Lot 322 – Invernesshire Inverness Halfpenny D&H 4, Brockage-maker
18th Century Provincial Tokens of Scotland, Invernesshire
Invernesshire, Inverness, Mackintosh, Inglis & Wilson; D&H 4, halfpenny struck in copper. Obverse almost certain to have been the brockage maker, meaning there’s a brockage out there with the imprint of this reverse. As a result, this piece completely flattened with edge all but obliterated other than two-halves of the names INGLIS and WILSON. Diameter at 30mm and 9.16g in weight. Technically very interesting, a bold fine. Rare.
