Birmingham, George Barker, D&H 65var; one of the very earliest trial pieces for this obverse, 13.89g, struck on a broad halfpenny planchet with plain edge. Pattern unfinished, fields with  demarcation guide lines in the fields. Of the highest rarity, unique. Extremely fine.

 

Provenance : Ex-P.C. Deane Collection, part II, lot 894 bt Spink 2008 and likely Cokayne collection as were all the other trials in this group.
